Stag Hill and Manor Park awarded Green Flags
We are pleased to announce that the University has been awarded a Green Flag for both our Stag Hill and Manor Park Campus.
This is the first time the University has applied for both campuses, with Stag Hill campus receiving the award last year. , run by environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy, is recognised internationally 鈥 marking green spaces of significance.
The University鈥檚 Grounds Team, led by Iain Main, has been key to the University鈥檚 success. Not only have they worked towards the awards, but the team are constantly looking for ways to improve biodiversity and maintenance of the University鈥檚 beautiful grounds 鈥 ensuring we provide a home for a variety of wildlife, and green spaces for staff, students and the local community to enjoy.
Eilis Foy, Head of Facilities Management, congratulates the team: 鈥淚鈥檓 incredibly proud that our Grounds Team have achieved these awards for the University. The work they are doing to improve biodiversity onsite and integrate sustainable practices is commendable, and something that is now recognised on an international stage!鈥
Over the next year, the Grounds Team will work through recommendations suggested by the judges. They are also aiming to submit an application next year to recognise the green spaces based at the .
The Grounds Team鈥檚 efforts to protect wildlife onsite and improve biodiversity is a part of the University鈥檚 ambition to embed the UN鈥檚 Sustainable Development Goals into everything we do.
