Dr. Amin Zarei is a Research Fellow in the Institute of Sustainability at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ. He earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering from Pukyong National University, Korea, where he developed innovative models for biofuel supply chains under uncertainty, following his MSc in Mechanical Engineering from AmirKabir University of Technology, Tehran. His research spans renewable energy systems, process design and optimization, and environmental and social assessment.

Dr. Zarei currently contributes to The Vertical Farming to Improve UK Food System Resilience project, where he models country-scale food supply chains under risk conditions. Previously, he played a key role in the Artificial Intelligence Enabling Future Optimal Flexible Biogas Production for Net-Zero project, optimizing biogas production using advanced AI techniques. He is also a Co-Investigator on the Optimization Models for the Technical-Economic and Environmental Analysis of Hybrid Hydrogen Production, Storage and Distribution Systems project in collaboration with USP University of Brazil. Additionally, he has served as an Associate Tutor at the Institute of Sustainability, further demonstrating his commitment to education and research excellence.
