Dr. Wenderson de Lima is a British Academy Research Fellow at the Department of Strategy and International Business (Surrey Business School). He completed his doctorate at the Stockholm Business School in 2020. His dissertation is titled “Modern Missionaries: An Ethnography of Social Entrepreneurs and Entrepreneurial Legitimation in the Humanitarian Field,” where he explores how social entrepreneurs gain support to create organizations addressing socio-environmental problems (e.g., lack of sanitation, food security, sustainable farming, HIV, lack of education and menstrual management) in Kenya. Empirical evidence was analyzed through the sociological lenses of practice theory.

Wenderson’s current research focuses on developing a sociology of social entrepreneurship: a set of concepts, theories, and techniques that help us understand social entrepreneurship in practice across Western and postcolonial contexts. He has led modules at Stockholm Business School in entrepreneurship and societal change. He has also given lectures and held seminars on several subjects, such as entrepreneurship in the Global South, PR, Corporate Responsibility, and principles of management.
