My research project
Workplace ageism in the hospitality/hotel industry- To critically evaluate the prevalence and impacts of workplace ageism within the hospitality industry through a systematic literature review.
- To investigate digital inclusivity as a barrier faced by older employees in the hospitality industry and suggest practical solutions.
- To analyse organizational practices and cultural factors contributing to ageism, and recommend inclusive HR strategies tailored for hospitality businesses.
- To apply theoretical frameworks, including the Job Demand-Resources (JD-R) model and Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis (IPA), to explore older employees' experiences, perceptions, and workplace engagement.
- To offer comparative insights on how cultural values influence the effectiveness of age-friendly policies and practices across different international contexts.
- To propose directions for future research including intersectionality, cross-cultural comparisons, integration of digital technologies, and longitudinal evaluations of age-friendly hospitality practices.
