Undergraduate
If you are studying for Australian qualifications, you will need a suitable equivalent grade to apply for our undergraduate courses. The table below shows grade equivalencies for Australia.

Minimum standard in English and mathematics
If you are applying for an undergraduate course at Surrey, you must meet our minimum standards for English and mathematics.
- English: Year 10 Certificate, English C.
- Mathematics: Year 10 Certificate, Mathematics C.
Some courses may require higher grades in English and mathematics and/or additional subjects, so please check the requirements provided on individual course pages.
Undergraduate pathway programmes
If you do not meet the direct entry requirements for a course, you can apply to study an programme at the . Upon successful completion, you can progress to an undergraduate degree at the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.
Postgraduate
You can apply for our postgraduate masters courses if you have an Australian bachelors degree.
To apply for one of our postgraduate courses that require a UK 2:1, you must achieve one of the following:
- Bachelor (Honours) degree (four years) with 2:1 honours (division B / 2). ​
- Bachelor ordinary degree (three Years) with Distinction (approximately 70%).
For courses that require a UK 2:2, you must achieve one of the following:
- Bachelor (Honours) degree (four years) with 2:2 honours (division B / 2). ​
- Bachelor ordinary degree (three years) with Credit (approximately 65%).
Postgraduate pathway programmes
If you do not meet the requirements for a postgraduate course, you can apply for a . These pathway programmes are offered by the and are designed in order to develop a student’s academic and English language skills in preparation for postgraduate study.
Upon successful completion, you can progress to a masters degree at the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ.

All our students require a good standard of English language to be eligible to study with us. If you don’t meet our requirements, we offer intensive pre-sessional English language courses, designed to take you to the level of English ability and skill required for your studies.
