Air Quality Lab

The Air Quality Lab (AQL) is a world-class air quality monitoring facility in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at the Â鶹ÊÓƵ that supports the activity of our Centre.

Overview

The laboratory was started by Professor Kumar in 2009, and has seen tremendous growth in recent years. The AQL supports our laboratory testing and experimental field campaigns. The laboratory houses advanced air quality monitoring equipment worth over half a million pounds, with capabilities to measure trace-level gaseous and particulate matter, including nano/ultrafine particles.

Applications and instruments

Besides traditional fixed-site measurements, we have specialised cutting-edge mobile air quality facilities in different transportation and urban micro-environments, where traditional approaches are not feasible.
