Governing Plastics Network
The Governing Plastics Network was jointly created by the University of Nairobi in Kenya and the Â鶹ÊÓƵ in the UK, and is funded by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) through the Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF).
Since the Network was established, we have broadened our reach, creating new projects with partners across Europe, East Africa, the Caribbean, Brazil and Australia, and engaging with the process of building and implementing the United Nations legally binding instrument on plastic pollution. Research across our projects is funded by the UKRI/GCRF, AHRC, EPSRC and UGPN.

Symposium on plastic waste colonialism

The Governing Plastics Network’s Professor Rosalind Malcolm will be speaking at a symposium on Friday 11th April at Zone2Source in Amsterdam marking the exhibition Material Flows: The Hidden Afterlives of Plastic Waste.
The symposium charts how the flow of plastic waste from the developing world to Southeast Asia perpetuates inequalities, reframing dialogue on plastic pollution amongst researchers, artists, designers and activists around waste colonialism. Click for further details and tickets.
